Historical thriller about the end of the samurai era
The historical action-adventure thriller Like a Dragon: Ishin is set in 1860s Kyo, a made-up version of Kyoto. Ishin allows you to experience the history of how the renowned samurai age ended, in contrast to other games that focus on earlier periods in Japanese history - such as Yakuza 3, Yakuza Kiwami, or Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The overthrow of the shogunate and the beginning of radical reform in Japan are widely attributed to our hero, Sakamoto Ryoma, a real historical character.

Like a Dragon: Ishin enrolls well-known characters to narrate this grand historical story. Fans of the franchise will recognize our lead character as Kazuma Kiryu from previous installments. Kiryu, who plays Sakamoto Ryoma in Ishin, also takes the rest of his crew with him. In this imaginary world where the tumultuous bustle of 1860s Kyo replaces the glitzy streets of Tokyo, Goro Majima and other Yakuza stars join Ryoma as allies and rivals.
