Game overview
MONSTER HUNTER RISE is an action role-playing game where players take on the role of a hunter tracking and defeating large monsters across various environments. Materials gathered from successful hunts are used to craft weapons, armor, and gear to face progressively tougher targets.
Gameplay characteristics
The base game and expansion introduce specific movement, combat, and progression systems across all hunting quests:
- Wirebug mechanics enable airborne traversal, wirefall recoveries, and specialized weapon attacks known as Silkbind moves.
- Wyvern Riding allows players to temporarily control weakened monsters to attack other creatures or inflict damage against walls.
- Palamute companions assist in combat and serve as rideable mounts for quick map movement without depleting stamina.
- Fourteen distinct weapon types offer varied combat styles, combo structures, and tactical options.
- Switch Skills allow players to swap out active weapon moves to customize combat setups for individual hunts.

The included Sunbreak expansion introduces new progression tiers, story campaigns, and features designed for experienced hunters:
- Master Rank quest difficulty, introducing aggressive monster behaviors and higher-tier crafting materials.
