Game overview
The Legend of Khiimori is a third-person open-world survival and exploration game developed by Aesir Interactive and NightinGames, published by Mindscape. Set in 13th-century Mongolia, it places the player in the role of a courier rider operating within the historical Yam postal network. The game is currently in Steam Early Access.
Gameplay
The game centers on horseback travel, horse management, and courier missions across a large open-world map spanning steppes, mountain passes, and desert terrain.
- Delivery missions require planning routes, managing cargo weight distribution, and accounting for terrain and climate conditions.
- Horse management is central to progression: riders must monitor their mount's food, water, stamina, mood, and health, and adapt pace accordingly across different gaits.
- Horses are bred using real-world genetics, with traits and abilities passing across generations. Selective breeding unlocks mounts suited to specific terrain types and missions.
- Wild horses can be tamed and added to the player's stable.
- Archery serves primarily as a tool for gathering resources and hunting, with different arrow types and powder pouches used for specific tasks.
- Crafting covers essential supplies for survival, camp-building, and courier equipment. Players construct and expand a nomad camp, including yurts and storage.
- Yam rank progression unlocks new equipment and expands access to the network of courier stations across the map.
