Game overview
EMPULSE is an upcoming fast-paced 6v6 movement shooter set in the post-utopian city of Freehold. Players combine movement mechanics to outmaneuver opponents while fighting for control of mechs that act as a power spike during matches.
Movement mechanics
Movement forms the core of EMPULSE's gameplay. The toolkit includes:
- Wall-running in both directions, usable on most vertical surfaces and chainable into other mechanics
- A grapple hook for building momentum, swinging around cover, transitioning into wall-runs, or pulling enemies in for a melee kill
- Holojumps and jetpacks that launch off boost pads to maintain movement chains
- P.A.I.N.T. Bombs that reshape surfaces with Jump, Speed, Explosive, Heal, and Sticky effects
Mechs
Two mechs spawn at the center of the map during a match and act as a contested objective. A claimed mech includes the following kit:
- A chaingun with damage that ramps up the longer the trigger is held
- Rockets that hit anyone in their blast radius
- A melee attack that deals heavy damage and knocks enemies back
- A deployable bubble shield for cover or area control
- A charge jump that launches the mech upward before slamming down with a damaging shockwave
- A dash for repositioning
Early Access
EMPULSE launches into Early Access on June 24th. Development during this period is shaped by ongoing community feedback, with updates to modes, maps, weapons, mechs, and balance based on player input.
- No store, battle pass, or microtransactions at Early Access launch
- Cosmetics are earned in-game through Gigs, progression, and events, with limited non-paid exceptions such as Twitch Drops and wishlist incentives
