Game overview
SAND: Raiders of Sophie is a procedurally generated desert survival game set on the fallen planet of Sophie, in an alternate 1910. Players pilot customizable walking mechs called Tramplers to scavenge, fight, and extract loot, either solo or in a squad.
Trampler customization
Tramplers are modular walking mechs built in the Trampler Editor. Design options support different playstyles:
- Heavily armored fortresses built to withstand sustained attacks
- War machines equipped with mounted turrets and firepower
- Small, stealthy builds suited for quick escapes
- Unconventional module combinations intended to confuse opponents
Gameplay
Expeditions involve scavenging cities, ruins, shipwrecks, and other remnants of the fallen world for loot, weapons, ammo, and resources. Players can take on these expeditions alone or with a squad.
- Encounters with the supernatural Upiors
- Confrontations with other players, which can be resolved through combat or negotiation
- Extraction to an orbital station to secure loot, Trampler, and survival
Game modes
SAND offers two main modes for deploying into the world:
- Voyage Mode, for testing builds and scavenging lower-tier items at a slower pace
- Storm Dive, a higher-stakes mode offering greater rewards as advancing sandstorms increase the risk of confrontation and loot loss
