The setting of the game is the realm of Demacia, where the Mageseekers, who uphold order by indoctrinating and imprisoning magic users, persecute magic users. You play the part of Sylas, a magician who has recently escaped from the custody of the Mageseekers, in the game. Sylas embarks on a mission to liberate his hometown from the Mageseekers' oppression, one Mageseeker at a time, using the chains that previously held him captive as his weapon.
