Game overview
Sudden Strike 5 is a real-time tactics game set in World War II, developed by Kite Games and published by Kalypso Media. It is the fifth entry in the Sudden Strike series and covers battles across Europe and North Africa, commanding forces from three factions: Western Allies, German, and Soviet troops.
Campaign and units
The single-player campaign spans 25 missions across diverse maps, from icy tundra to the North African desert. The available arsenal includes over 300 historically modelled units:
- More than 190 vehicles, including the Sherman tank, Messerschmitt Bf 109, and T-34.
- Over 110 infantry unit types.
Tactical systems
Missions support multiple approaches through a range of battlefield tools and objectives:
- Capture and hold key locations such as Field HQs, Supply Depots, and Train Stations to unlock reinforcements and maintain supply lines.
- Use recon, sabotage, bridge destruction, and alternative routing to disrupt enemy movement.
- Commanders are customisable and offer distinct skill sets suited to offensive, defensive, or tactical playstyles — abilities include deploying smoke grenades or improving artillery accuracy.
- Camera controls allow both full strategic overview and close-range frontline views.
Multiplayer
The game includes competitive PvP and matches against AI opponents across multiple difficulty levels.
