Hamlet is the best tiny city in the kingdom. That is, until the horrible Baron Herx showed there and took the entire thing as his Barony. He enslaved Hamlet's people and is now a terrifying undead lich. For decades, the entire town has been trapped in his huge dungeon, and it is now up to a lone hero or a group of adventurers to meet him in his horrific lair and destroy him forever. It is ultimately up to you whether you die in the dungeons or triumph over the Baron and his hellspawn. What did Baron Herx discover in Hamlet, and will killing him suffice?
Barony is a cooperative multiplayer 3D first-person roguelike that combines the cryptic and intricate designs of traditional roguelikes like Nethack with RPGs like Ultima Underworld, System Shock, and Daggerfall. This hard-boiled dungeon crawler's calling card is the challenge. Barony narrates the narrative of an undead lich named Baron Herx, who terrorized the hamlet of Hamlet in a previous life and is now hiding out in the Devil's Bastion, a large subterranean complex. It is your goal, as a lone hero or as a group of adventurers, to descend the depths of his dwelling, confront him in his horrible lair, and destroy him forever.
