It has been a long time since Guybrush Threepwood and his rival, the undead pirate LeChuck, engaged in a wits-based conflict. Elaine Marley, his true love, has shifted her attention away from politics, and Guybrush himself is lost and unfulfilled because he has never discovered the Secret of Monkey Island. Melee Island has worsened, hip, youthful pirate leaders commanded by Captain Madison have replaced the old guard, and wealthy investor Stan has been arrested for "marketing-related violations."
On well-known islands now governed by scary new leaders, fool around with old friends and newcomers. Then, embark on a sea voyage to discover the uncharted and unknown while navigating challenging situations. All that standing in Guybrush's way of greatness are crafty puzzles, bizarre events, and crushing ripostes.
