Like a Dragon: Ishin takes place in 1860s Kyo, a fictional version of Kyoto. In contrast to other games that focus on earlier periods of Japanese history, such as Yakuza 3, Yakuza Kiwami, or Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Ishin allows you to experience the history of how the renowned samurai age ended. Our hero, Sakamoto Ryoma, a true historical figure, is widely credited with overthrowing the shogunate and initiating radical reform in Japan.
Kazuma Kiryu has returned
Like a Dragon: Ishin enlists well-known characters to tell this epic historical tale. Fans of the series will recognize our protagonist as Kazuma Kiryu from previous installments. Kiryu, who plays Sakamoto Ryoma in Ishin, brings along the rest of his crew. Goro Majima and other Yakuza stars join Ryoma as allies and rivals in this fictitious world where the tumultuous bustle of 1860s Kyo replaces the glitzy streets of Tokyo.
