Doom Eternal is a first-person shooter game developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks, who are also the publisher of the previous Doom installment. The game is a direct sequel to 2016's Doom, and is the fifth main installment in the series. In it, the player once again controls the Doom Slayer—an ancient warrior who is fighting against Hell's forces. DOOM Eternal boasts new gameplay mechanics, including new monsters to slay and improved traversal mechanics. It received positive initial reception and was hailed as a worthy successor to DOOM.
Through in-game Codexes found in 2016’s Doom and DOOM Eternal, the player might gather some information about both the Doom Slayer and his previous battles against the demons. The armies of Hell fear him and treat him as an ultimate threat to their expansion. The UAC recognize his demon-killing talents and utility in fight against the forces of the Damned. Clad in armor that could withstand the infernal fires, the Doom Slayer is the perfect weapon against the demons who had overrun the world.
After Samuel Hayden accidentally opened a portal to Hell on Mars, he returned to Earth with the Crucible (an ancient blade recovered by the Doom Slayer). Fueling his research with this weapon, Hayden left the Blue Planet vulnerable to an attack by demonic forces. Meanwhile, the Doom Slayer—sent away by Hayden—managed to find his way back to Earth; there he found it overrun by Hellish legions. Now it was up to this ancient warrior to again battle against forces of the Damned—and this time his mission would affect the entire world.
DOOM Eternal is a first-person shooter that continues the fast-paced action of its predecessor. The game allows players to explore and shoot through endless hordes of demons. Green helmets scattered across the maps give players another life, which will revive them at their place of death instead of at a checkpoint. The grappling hook allows players to move to higher spaces or attack enemies.
The player will encounter demons in DOOM Eternal. The demons include possessed humans, equipped with various types of weapons; spider-like Arachnotrons, hulking Mancubuses, and Doomhunters; super shotgun and ax-wielding Marauders.
The game features monsters returning from the previous games, including Arch-Vile, Hell Knights and Pain Elementals. The player also encounters bosses and mini-bosses along the way. These monsters are stronger than average and take more punishment to kill, leading to greater satisfaction when they are finally vanquished.
DOOM Eternal offers players the chance to wield an entire arsenal of new weapons, including arm blade, excellent in close combat; Super Shotgun, a hallmark of the Doom series, now equipped with a meat hook that can grapple onto enemies and elements of the environment; plasma rifle, redesigned to resemble its counterparts in Doom 1 and 2; rocket launcher; and chainsaw. Each weapon can be upgraded and modified to sow even more destruction among the enemy ranks.
Doom Eternal will feature a multiplayer mode called “Invasion”. In Invasion, other players will assume the roles of demons in the player’s single-player mode. Other multiplayer modes will also be included, in which a player can compete against other players online or team up with them.
DOOM Eternal received a positive initial response from critics, who praised the familiarity of its gameplay as well as some of the revamped mechanics. The new grappling hook attached to the Super Shotgun was especially lauded for changing the game's mobility mechanics and introducing new possibilities to multiplayer modes.

- Invasion mode dedicated for multiplayer experience. One of the players become the demon itself to complicate and harass the life of the other.
- Battlemode offers novelty 2vs1 skirmish. Once again, this time 2 players, control fiendish beasts and one player – Doom Slayer face them in fast, deadly and bloodthirsty clash.
- New campaign enhanced with great cut-scenes, different and various locations, juicy animations of exploding enemies – it’s just a pleasure to watch Doom Eternal and its id Tech 7 engine
