BioWare Studio Officially Closing Down

The End of an Era

The decision comes after a series of internal restructuring efforts at EA and shifting market priorities. BioWare has struggled in recent years to consistently capture the magic of its golden age, leading to this difficult and final verdict. Around 50 developers at BioWare are directly affected, as part of roughly 400 job cuts across EA.

What Happens to the IPs?

EA has also cancelled the next Mass Effect game, which a small team at BioWare had been developing. The future of the studio's legendary IPs, including Mass Effect and Dragon Age, remains uncertain. EA has stated they will support transitioning staff to other studios within the company where possible, but it is currently unknown if another internal team will take over the development of future sequels.
