Game overview
Witchspire is a co-op open world adventure game in which players take on the role of witches tasked with stopping a spreading corruption. The world is hand-crafted and supports cooperative play.
Gameplay
Progression and exploration are built around magical abilities, creature bonding, and cooperative survival mechanics:
- Magic is used for both traversal and resource gathering — summoning forests for timber, using magical pickaxes to harvest materials, and movement abilities such as spirit jumping and blinking
- Creatures encountered in the wilderness can be defeated to collect their spirits, then bonded with over time as familiars that support different play styles
- Base building uses astral projection to move freely from gravity, allowing construction of a shared home for the player group
- Environmental hazards include falling meteors, ancient creatures, and corruption spreading through the world
Progression and customisation
Each player can develop their witch independently through several systems:
- Branching tech tree and player levelling
- Crafting options that vary by build
- Coven selection at the start, such as the Cloudpiercers or the Foretellers, which determines starting abilities and outfit
