Hogwarts Legacy for PC is a single-player action-adventure game set in the Harry Potter universe. The player takes on the role of a new student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, learning magic, making friends, and facing challenges as he or she advances through the years at the school.

About the Game

The game takes place in the late 1800s, long before any of your favorite movie or book characters were born. However, some ghosts you know and love may pop up to help or hinder you on your way!

Non-playing characters, or NCPs, play a vital role in this game. Victor Rookwood is the Dark Wizard leader who prefigures Voldemort; Professor Eleazar Fig is your form teacher and ally; and Ranrok, the rebellious goblin leader, distrusts all humans and especially wizards.

You are an ordinary student about to start your fifth year at Hogwarts, where you will make new friends and learn powerful spells. But dark forces threaten the peace of the wizarding community, and before long you have become a target for blame.

The Ranrok hates all wizards, but he has allied himself with Rookwood in order to get hold of an ancient magic. An ancient magic which is so dangerous that wizards have tried to hide it from themselves--and that you, unexpectedly, turn out to be the one wizard who is the key to unleashing this ancient magic!

Needless to say, if Ranrok is successful in his plans, he will threaten Rookwood and its inhabitants. However, the magical realm of Rookwood can no longer be considered a safe haven; with Ranrok’s release from captivity comes an uncertain future for both students and faculty alike.

The Nitty Gritty

You will attend classes, in between saving wizarding civilisation, in Charms, Herbology, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions and other subjects. You can explore much further afield than simply the castle by going to Hogsmeade and Gringotts Bank. The Hidden Forest is also accessible and fully explorable.

The game has an open world setting, and the environment will change with the seasons. You can choose your house and customise your playing character in many ways including voice, body type and wand selection. All of this adds up to mean that each player can enjoy a tailor-made and very different gaming experience.

As mentioned above, the game is open world and positively encourages exploration as you interact with Non-Player Characters (NPCs) like Nearly Headless Nick, Peeves the poltergeist – who is beloved by readers of the books but never quite made it into movies despite having been filmed for the first movie starring the late great Rik Myall – and Fat Lady, who guards Gryffindor dormitories.

The Room of Requirement also makes an appearance in the game. It is much more than it was in previous games, being able to be customised with plants and having a wide range of uses. It acts as a kind of common room that the player can grow plants, research things and tweak their customisation as they please.

If you want to play a villain, the game's morality system will allow you to master the killing curse. Or, if not evil is your cup of tea (what?) and friendship reigns supreme on Pottermore for you – go ahead and make pals with all your classmates! They'll grow alongside with as well, offering handy aid at tricky moments.

There are no microtransactions in the game: everything you get will be earned by playing, not just for those who can afford to pay.

Fantastic Beasts and How to Care for Them

Care of Magical Creatures is a core class at Hogwarts and teaches students how to care for and even battle with:

• Despite the ban on breeding dragons, students at Hogwarts can have their own pets. You can ride, cuddle and battle your incinerators — but don’t forget to feed them!

• Nifflers, the mole-platypus-magpie hybrids first seen in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them , return for another adventure full of shiny objects, snaffling enjoyment from attendees as well as annoyance.

• Trolls, in this game, are clearly more animal than humanoid: they fall into the creature camp rather than wizard one.
• Hippogriffs: Buckbeak (aka Witherwings) and his fellow beast, reprise their roles to terrify as well as delight you; they are also instrumental in battle with both their sharp claws and fearsome beaks.

• Mandrakes: magical plants that will screech and scream when they’re planted in the ground. Use ear defenders when digging them up, then unleash on your enemies!
