Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux Get Free Next-Gen Updates

Post-apocalyptic Moscow is about to look more atmospheric than ever. 4A Games and Deep Silver have confirmed that both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux are receiving a completely free next-gen upgrade. The visual and performance overhaul arrives on October 22, 2026, for PC, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S releases on October 29, 2026.

Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux Get Free Next-Gen Updates

Modern Tech for Classic Wastelands

The upgrade is built to bring both iconic shooters in line with the technical standards set by Metro Exodus. Players can look forward to full ray-traced lighting, enhanced reflection passes, uncompressed textures, and rock-solid 4K resolution at 60 FPS on current-generation consoles.

On PlayStation 5, the update introduces native DualSense support, translating weapon jams, pneumatic pressure pump resistance, and mask damage directly to adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Fast SSD load times will also make navigating the deadly metro tunnels seamless across all platforms.

Free Upgrade Details

The best part of the announcement is the upgrade path: existing owners of either Redux title will receive the graphical enhancements entirely free of charge via an automatic update.

If you do not already own Artyom's definitive journeys, grabbing your keys ahead of the patch—or stocking up your digital wallet with a PlayStation Store Gift Card or Xbox Live Card—ensures you are ready to descend back underground the moment the patches roll out.
