The action takes place during the Edo period in Japan. Ebizo is a young, aspiring thief who wants to do some good. Steal from the rich and give to the poor. However on his first attempt with his master Ainosuke, they witness their own men killing innocent civilians. Disenchanted by this terrifying display of pure evil, Ainosuke sends Ebizo off with the only survivor of the massacre - a lone girl.
Years pass, Ebizo has taken Suzuna as his own daughter. He's turned his way and is living an honest and rightful life. But the illusion of stability falls apart once Suzuna gets ill. Her medicine is Ebizo's financial burden. In order to guarantee she gets it, he has to return to his dark past in the underground world of Mikado. He swears to steal only for the sake of the less fortunate.
Will you pledge to his oath and walk to the righteous path as a thief?
